Machhermo

Machermo, at 4,470 metres in the Solu-Khumbu region of Nepal, is a popular stopover to Lake Gokyo.
Machermo is a small, mountainous settlement in the northern Solu-Khumbu district of Nepal, at an altitude of about 4,470 metres (4,470 ft). It is a stop on the famous trekking route to Lake Gokyo, where visitors enjoy views of spectacular mountain peaks and glaciers that dominate the landscape.

The people of Machermo, mostly Sherpa, are known for their warmth and hospitality, as well as their ability to survive in this demanding environment. Their traditions and cultural wealth are an integral part of the identity of the region.

The region's reputation is also linked to an interesting story from 1974, when a British mountaineer reported being attacked by a Yeti. This incident gave Machermo a sense of mystery that still attracts adventure seekers.

Today, Machermo is an important stop for climbers and tourists, offering basic facilities and a warm environment for those passing through this spectacular landscape.
