Khumjung

Hidden village at an altitude of 3,790m, offering stunning views of Everest from the Everest View Hotel.
The Khumjung region, at an altitude of around 3,790 metres in the heart of the Himalayas, is renowned for its unparalleled natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and unique history. With a backdrop of high mountains and majestic landscapes, it is an ideal destination for those who love nature and trekking.
The tradition of the region remains alive through its inhabitants, the Sherpas, who are renowned for their hospitality and their strong connection with the mountains. With remarkable resilience, they manage to live in this demanding environment, preserving a culture that dates back centuries.

The centrepiece of Khumjung is its monastery, a sacred site for the Sherpas and a pilgrimage destination for Buddhists from all over the world. With its distinctive architecture and important religious relics, the monastery is a symbol of spirituality and tradition.

In addition to its cultural value, Khumjung is also known for its educational offerings, with the Khumjung School founded by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1961 as one of the first schools in the region and continuing to provide quality education.
