Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu Durbar Square is filled with temples and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
This historical landmark is one of the most important and visited monuments of the region. It is a wide open space surrounded by impressive palaces and temples, which are excellent examples of the region's architecture.
This particular attraction has a long history dating back to the medieval Nepalese era. The palaces and temples found here were constructed during the reign of the Malla Kings, who were known for their love of art and architecture.

The most impressive building on the site is the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, which was the royal palace of the Malla Kings and later the Saha Kings. The palace is named after the stone statue of the god Hanuman, the faithful servant of the god Rama, who guards the entrance to the palace.

Also on the site is the Taleju Bhawani temple, which is dedicated to the patron goddess of the Malla Kings. The temple is known for its impressive architecture and the details of its sculptures.

Apart from the palaces and temples, the site also includes other important monuments such as the Kumari Ghar, the home of the living goddess Kumari
