Gokyo Lake

Gokyo Lake

In the Gokyo valley are magnificent lakes that reflect the impressive peaks.
In the Gokyo Valley, a series of five spectacular lakes create one of the most impressive natural landscapes in the world, at an altitude of over 4,700 metres. The third lake, the largest and most popular, captivates visitors with its clear blue waters that mirror the snow-capped ridges of the surrounding mountains, offering a dreamlike view, with the sky blending harmoniously with the mountain landscape.

The area is not only a natural wonder, but also a place of rich history and religious significance. It is believed that the lakes were formed by the movement of glaciers during the last ice age, and today they are a sacred place for the locals, with many pilgrims visiting annually to pray and honour their traditions.

In addition to enjoying the magnificent views, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy hiking in the area, bird watching and exploring the rich flora and fauna. The trail to Gokyo leads to the first lake, Longponga Tsho, and continues on to Taujung Tsho and Gokyo, offering unique views at each stop that enhance the sense of Himalayan adventure.
