Kilimantzaro-Tanzania

Kilimanjaro
The highest mountain in Africa.
Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest point, is not just a geological phenomenon; it is a living testimony to human endurance and natural beauty. Every year, thousands of climbers test their limits by ascending to its summit, mesmerised by its grandeur and the adventure it invites.
The history of the region is equally fascinating. Its first known inhabitants, the ancestors of the Maasai, lived here some 1,000 years ago, giving the land spirit and memory. In 1889, Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller wrote their own chapter in history when they became the first to conquer the peak after many failed attempts.
Today, the forests that hug the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro are teeming with life, home to rare animals and plants. Higher up, the arid grasslands and spectacular glaciers tell the story of a changing but still unique world.
Although Kilimanjaro has become an attraction for travellers from around the world, it remains a haven of natural and cultural heritage, its power inspiring those who visit.
