Karanga Camp

Karanga Camp, at an altitude of 4,000 metres, is the last stop before reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro.
Karanga Camp, at an altitude of about 4,000 meters, is one of the most important camps for climbers heading to the top of Kilimanjaro. Its name, which means "groundnut" in Swahili, refers to the crops that once dominated the area, lending a human dimension to this wild, mountainous landscape. As the last stop before the final ascent, Karanga Camp becomes a point of reflection and preparation. Here, climbers adapt to the sparse oxygen, recover their strength and enjoy hot meals, while the atmosphere is filled with solidarity and support from the camp's employees. The view from the camp, with the summit seen close by but at the same time far away, reminds the climbers of the challenge that awaits them. Despite the difficult conditions, the hospitality and spirit of Karanga Camp provide the necessary impetus for the final effort.
